NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. — The North Las Vegas assistant police chief is facing a DUI charge.
Nevada Highway Patrol troopers say they pulled over 44-year-old Clint Ryan after an off duty cop spotted him weaving on U.S. 95.
Ryan finds himself in the middle of a controversy after receiving a DUI charge, as North Las Vegans aren't happy about the accusations.
"He's supposed to be the top of the law. He supposed to abide by all rules. You can't slip through the cracks," said Monica Holt
NHP says an off-duty cop noticed Ryan's pickup truck weaving Sunday night after 6 p.m. near U.S. 95 and Tropicana.
Ryan was hauling a trailer with a horse in it. The off-duty officer called, and that's when troopers stepped in and pulled over Ryan, who refused sobriety tests.
Former Las Vegas Metropolitan Police detective Phil Ramos says an assistant police chief facing such accusations is rough.
"You are not supposed to be out doing things that you've arrested people doing and you are doing it yourself," said Ramos
Clint Ryan is on paid administrative leave as the investigation continues.
