Off-duty officer accidentally discharges weapon, shoots self on Las Vegas Strip

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after an off-duty officer accidentally discharged his weapon and shot himself in the stomach Saturday night, July 20.

According to a release, the incident occurred just after 10:00 p.m.

LVMPD was dispatched to the Delano in the 3900 block of S. Las Vegas Boulevard.

The off-duty officer was located suffering from a single gunshot wound to his lower body.

He was transported to UMC Trauma for non-life threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

An internal investigation will be conducted into the incident.
