Official Star Trek Convention returns to Las Vegas for 17th year

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Prepare to boldly go where no fan has gone before.

The 17th Official Star Trek Convention is returning to Las Vegas next week, according to a spokesperson.

The convention runs from July 31 through August 4 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino, with special panels featuring cast members from several iterations of the hit franchise.

Included in the events are stars of the original series William Shatner, Nichelle Nichols and Walter Koenig, who played Captain James Kirk, Uhura and Chekov, respectively.

The convention will also feature Sonequa Martin-Green, Anson Mount, Doug Jones, James Frain and Jason Isaacs, all of whom appear in the newest series, "Star Trek: Discovery."

There will be behind-the-scenes presentations, costume and trivia contests, collectible auctions and fan-made music videos.

Saturday evening's gala celebration will also return, with performances from Brent Spiner, who played Data in "Star Trek: The Next Generation," and his live band.
