40-year-old Ronnie Cravens Jr. better known by his stage name “Succeed Phlyguy" was a popular rapper, but his life was tragically cut short Saturday night after a home invasion turned deadly in Henderson.

It happened at Succeed’s home on Clarity Court around 10:30 p.m. Succeed’s father Ronnie Cravens Sr. says his son's roommate was home with Succeed and two others when the invasion happened.

The roommate told Ronnie Sr. that two armed men wearing ski masks entered through the open garage and kicked down the door.

Succeed and another man were in the kitchen, and the suspects ordered them to the ground.

"He said as soon as they kicked the door open after they told him to get on the ground that they jacked a rifle back." Ronnie Sr. said.

He says Succeed's roommate was listening from another room, and that’s when he grabbed his gun and eventually got in a shootout with the suspects.

At some point, Succeed got up and ran toward the front door, the gunfire striking him and leaving him lifeless in his front yard.

"It's a very devastating blow to any parent." Ronnie Sr. said.

The man who was in the kitchen with Succeed took to social media, revealing that there were at least 30 gunshots and that he stayed on the ground and played dead.

The public post saying in part: "I laid there not wanting to get up. I thought everyone was dead in the house. I walked out front to see Succeed laying there."

Henderson police say another man suffered injuries but has since been released from the hospital.

Succeed's father remembering his son and saying he's proud of him and the way he chased his dreams to the very end.

"I'm glad that he was strong-minded. He kept the direction he wanted to go and doing the business that he really loved", Ronnie Sr. said.

So far, no arrests have been made. News 3 reached out to Henderson police Monday, asking for any updates, but officers say it's an open investigation and they can't comment any further.

Succeed's father says they plan to bring his body home to Arkansas where they'll be holding his funeral.

Anyone with information should pick up the phone and call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
