Donations needed for new Converse animal care facility opening soon

CONVERSE -- The City of Converse is getting ready to open a brand new animal care facility.

The city currently has a building being set up with kennels, but donations are needed to help the facility get its start. Although no official date has been set, it's expected to open in the coming weeks.

Chad Ensign, the animal care manager, stopped by News 4 San Antonio's Evening Break to share how you can help.

Donations Items Needed For Converse Animal Control Facility:

  • Non-clumping Cat Litter
  • Wet kitten, cat, dog food
  • Dog and cat crates, taxis
  • Towels and blankets (Can take used if items are washed)
  • Bleach and dish soap
  • Cat toys and durable chew toys for dogs (Kong or rope types)
  • Kitten and puppy milk replacer
  • Dog and cat treats
  • Newspaper
  • Collars, leashes and harnesses (new and used are okay)
  • Paper towels
  • Flea shampoo, treatment
  • Pet shampoo
  • Grooming supplies (brushes, nail clippers, shed brushes, etc...)
  • Dawn dishwashing liquid soap
  • Lotrimin for ringworm
  • Puppy potty pads
  • Kuranda beds for cats and dogs

Donations can be dropped off at City Hall located at 406 S. Seguin or the Police Station at 402 S. Seguin until the new Converse Animal Care facility opens.
