Illinois State Fair Giant Slide has been sold

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS/WRSP) — The giant slide at the Illinois State Fairgrounds has officially been sold.

Amy Raftis, with Prairie State Bank & Trust, confirms the slide is now under contract to be sold to an out-of-state buyer.

The sale is anticipated to close on April 1st.

The slide was first listed at $135,000, but it's unknown how much the slide was sold for.

Raftis said the slide will remain at the Illinois State Fair Grounds and continue to operate as normal.

The slide is one of 40 originally designed and built by Fred Pittroff.

It has been a state fair staple for nearly fifty years and was built in 1968.
