It wasn't the senior year of high school that Rochester High graduate Abby Vose pictured.

“It's just been insane. It all happened so fast like no one knew anything or what was going on," Vose said.

But a new mural in the parking of a local photography studio aims to spread a reassuring message for the Class of 2020.

"Everything is figureoutable. Obviously, there are a lot of big things that can happen in people's lives, a lot of hardships, but again everything is figureoutable," mural artist Alex Rothschild said.

“Figureoutable” is the word displayed across the top of the mural. Rothschild spent the week painting to help celebrate the end of a turbulent year for seniors.

“For some people, they can't afford senior photos. So, this is definitely a time to not capitalize but take advantage of the people that didn't get to have those senior photos, or have those senior moments," Rothschild said.

The mural is also thanks to studio owner Sarah Petty, who mentored Rothschild while he was in high school.

“Seeing their senior year just pulled out from under them like a rug -- they didn't see it coming. So, I really wanted to do something for this class," Petty said. “When I see talented teens I always think of how can I work with them in the future. So, I made a little mental note of how cool it would be to do a mural."

The end product is a message of hope for any graduate looking to hear that at the end of the day, everything really is “figureoutable.”

"It makes me feel normal like things are getting back to how it was," Vose said.
