Crash in Oklahoma City claims life of 28-year-old woman

OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH)--A car accident on I-35 northbound just north of the I-40 Ft. Smith junction around 4:00 a.m. Monday morning claimed the life of a 28-year-old Midwest City woman.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said that a 2004 Ford Expedition driven by Mary Mainus was traveling northbound in the inside lane when the car departed the road to the right and hit a barrier wall.

The car then departed the road to the left and hit the inside barrier wall ejecting Mainus from the vehicle.

The car eventually came to rest on the right shoulder of the road.

A 38-year-old passenger was also in the car at the time of the accident and was admitted to OU Medical Center in fair condition with a leg injury.

Mainus was pronounced dead at the hospital by medical staff.

Neither Mainus nor the passenger was wearing their seat-belts at the time of the accident.
