Oklahoma City Fire Department is looking to hire more firefighters

Oklahoma City (KOKH) — The Oklahoma City Fire Department is looking for more firefighters. The department has outlined specific requirements for candidates on their website.

Those looking to apply must have a valid driver's license and the strength and stamina to climb 20 or more flights of stairs while wearing fire protective gear.

Applicants should not have a felony conviction. They must be 18 to 44 years old. Any person applying should have a high school diploma or GED. They should also have an emergency medical technician or EMT license beforehand to complete a one-year probationary period.

Applicants should also be able to carry equipment between 20 and 50 pounds, and should be able to have good balance while climbing and working on ladders.
