OKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH)--According to a Lending Tree study, Oklahoma City is No. 8 for cities where the stimulus check goes the furthest and helps families the most.

Lending Tree looked at 98 different cities with the most families to determine their average monthly expenses and how much the $3,400 check, for a house with two parents and two children, from the CARES act would help each family.

Lending Tree analyzed the data from the 98 different cities and estimated the average median income for each metro family.

From there, they multiplied monthly income by 83.1 percent, the percentage of income the average family puts toward monthly expenses, according to 2018 Bureau of Labor Statistics data.

They used that information to estimate the percentage of monthly expenses that would be covered by the stimulus checks.

Their study estimated the average Oklahoma City family to make an average of $81,500 a year and pay a little over $5,600 a month in expenses, meaning the $3,400 stimulus check for the average Oklahoma City family would cover 60 percent of their monthly costs.
