ORIENTAL, N.C. (KOKH)o — Khristal Wells lives in Washington, Oklahoma, but she grew up on the coast of North Carolina.
"it’s my home," Wells said, "and you can’t replace home.
After Hurricane Florence hit, she got on a plane to come help her family and friends.
Some have lost everything.
"It’s sad," Wells said, "but then you see the community coming together and people pouring out everything.
"You see people, who don’t have anything, helping their neighbor who doesn’t have anything. That’s what makes this place so beautiful."
It's a can-do attitude similar to the famous Oklahoma standard.
"When I moved to Oklahoma, I learned our outpouring spirit there. Red dirt ready," she said. "Seeing how they come together made me love Oklahoma."
Now she’s hoping the Sooner State will keep stepping up.
"Just an outpouring of support from other people would be helpful," she said.
