BB Bear is pictured on Oct. 18, 2017 at Phoenix Dog/Cat/Bird Hospital in Phoenix. The puppy is recovering from blunt trauma to his skull, likely caused by a human.

Almost from the beginning, shelter officials heard from people who want to adopt BB Bear the husky puppy.

Maricopa County Animal Care and Control has given regular updates on BB Bear since he was found near a trash bin with a skull fracture in October.

Each update came with adorable images of the furry little guy, whose "remarkable progress" was praised by veterinarians caring for him at Phoenix Dog/Cat/Bird Hospital — the facility's actual name.

And now that this doggy is ready for adoption, his yet-to-be-chosen family will have to prove it can give BB Bear his best life.

"As you can imagine a lot of people are interested in adopting him," Maricopa County Animal Care and Control announced Friday on its Facebook page. "In order to make it fair we are asking for people to tell us 'why' they would make the best family for him."

Applications will be accepted until Dec. 1. Only the first 50 applicants will be considered, and they must be Arizona residents. The winner will pay an adoption fee of $150.

For instructions on how to apply, visit the Facebook pages of Arizona Animal Rescue Mission or the Phoenix Dog/Cat/Bird Hospital.
