Primary election day is Aug. 28. Friday is the deadline to request a ballot by mail.

This election determines which Republican, Democratic and Green candidates will advance to the Nov. 6 general election.

Did you get your early ballot yet?

Voters on the Permanent Early Voting List who are registered with a specific party should have already received their early ballot by mail.

If you are not on the list but would like to get the primary ballot by mail, you have until Friday to request one with your county recorder's office

Early ballots should be mailed back by Aug. 22.

Independents can vote

Yes, independents can vote in Arizona's primary election. But you have to take an extra step if you want a primary ballot by mail.

Even if you are on the Permanent Early Voting List for other elections, you must notify your county elections department which party's ballot you want for this primary.

You should have received a card in the mail asking you to select a ballot. If you did not get a card or have not had a ballot arrive in the mail, you must request one with your county recorder's office.

You have until Friday to do so.

Maricopa County residents can call 602-506-1511 or request a ballot online

Independent voters can also request a particular party's ballot at the polls on election day.

Need a Braille or large-print ballot?
