New traffic rules imposed in Nongpoh

NONGPOH: The Superintendent of Police, Ri Bhoi district in Meghalaya has informed that one-way shall be imposed on both sides of the service lanes of National Highway-6 at Nongpoh, starting from Bethany Hospital junction, Pahamsyiem up to Deputy Commissioner’s office junction, Umlyngkdait on trial basis.

 

Informing media persons on this new traffic regulations in Nongpoh area, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Dangsan Khyriem informed that while proceeding towards Guwahati, the service lane on the left side of the National Highway-6 shall be strictly a one-way for all vehicles proceeding towards Guwahati side and while proceeding towards Shillong, the service lane on the left side of the National Highway-6 shall be strictly a one-way for all vehicles proceeding towards Shillong.

 

He also informed that the main aim of this new traffic regulations is to reduce traffic congestion in Nongpoh area and to regulate smooth movement of vehicles. In view of the necessity and in the interest of the public safety and convenience, the above on-trial traffic regulations on both sides of the service lanes shall be imposed with immediate effect starting from 1st October 2018.
