Missing youth’s body recovered from river

NONGPOH: Body of a youth who went missing on March 25 last,  was fished out from  Lailad river in Ri Bhoi District on Wednesday. The victim was identified as Farming Lyngdoh, hailing from Mawdiangum, Nongpoh. It is suspected to be a case of drowning.

As per the information received, the victim along with his friend had gone for fishing at Lailad River, but he was reported missing the same day. Search and rescue operations was conducted immediately.

After three days of continuous search, his dead body was recovered from the river on Wednesday morning at around 6 am. The body was sent for post mortem at Nongpoh Civil Hospital and the report is being awaited.
