4 more die of swine flu, Gujarat’s death count 377

AHMEDABAD: Swine flu continued its death march with four more lives succumbing to the deadly virus on Tuesday. Out of the four deaths, two were reported from Ahmedabad city. With this, the swine flu death toll in the state reached 377 from January to September 5.
The government claimed that 124 patients were declared cured and discharged from hospitals on Tuesday.
But on the same day, 133 new cases including 34 in the city were reported. With this, total number of swine flu cases reached 5,792 this year.
According to a statement of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), 16 patients are on life support, with 13 on Bi-PAP (bi-level positive airway pressure) machines and 22 are on oxygen supply in city hospitals. The civic body said 115 patients are in stable condition.
AMC claims to have distributed 23,023 Tamiflu tablets and 434 Oseltamivir syrup bottles for kids on Tuesday. At present, Tamiflu is being distributed at Civil hospital in Asarwa, Sola Civil hospital along with AMC-run V S hospital in Paldi, Shardaben hospital in Saraspur, L G hospital in Maninagar area and also at 71 urban urban health centres across the city.
Meanwhile, the state government claimed that 15,500 medical teams of the health department have already surveyed a population of 68 lakh people. More than 91,000 swine flu positive cases were identified in the initial stage and all of them were given proper treatment. As many as 1,316 patients have been cured within a week and 4,779 cured so far, claimed the statement from the government.
