The Bengaluru round of auditions of the Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva 2017, empowered by United Colors of Benetton, was high on grit and glamour, but it’s the small town divas who made a mark in
this year’s pageant. The event was held at Shangri-La Hotel Bengaluru that came onboard as the hospitality and venue partner. More than 80 contestants came for the auditions, with a total of seven finalists shortlisted for the Mumbai auditions.
Gracing the occasion as judges were Miss Supranational 2014 Asha Bhat, Mr India 2015 1st Runner-up Rahul Rajasekharan, alongside Sandalwood actress Ragini Dwivedi and fashion guru Prasad Bidapa.

“What was special this year is that the pageant is finally getting to the roots of Karnataka, taking in contestants from places like Chikmagalur and Ranebennuru,” says Ragini. Adding to this, Prasad says, “The 2017 Miss Diva contest picked a few very pretty girls. I can imagine a lot of them becoming actresses in Sandalwood, and even Bollywood. Most of the girls are very polished and finessed. Although they have come from towns and villages, they work in Bengaluru and have achieved a level of sophistication.”
Rahul says, “Bengaluru has always produced the best talents. The auditions here is an exciting experience. This year too we have got an amazing line-up. Can’t wait for them to go to Mumbai and excel there too.”
For Asha, who was a contestant at the same pageant three years ago, it was a walk down the memory lane. “I see a lot of potential in all the finalists. Everyone is unique in their own ways. They are talented and well-spoken. I hope they give their best and make Bengaluru proud again,” she sums up. The seven finalists will now be fast-tracked to the final round of auditions, to be held in Mumbai on September 7.
