A goods train derailed near a level crossing in Odisha's Cuttack city today, affecting train services for sometime.

BHUBANESWAR :A goods train derailed near Sikharpur railway crossings in Cuttack on Sunday. The train was carrying cement from Jharsuguda to goods shed at Cuttack railway station. The derailment occurred at about 12 noon.
East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources said a wagon, 13th from rear, got derailed and blocked movement of trains on the up line for sometimes. Nobody is injured in the incident.
Accident relief train from Khurda Road was pressed into service at 12.45 pm for relief work of the derailed train.
“As the modernisation work is going on at Cuttack Station, the train was allowed for experiment,” said an ECoR spokesperson.

He said train services will not be hampered because down line is clear. Train services on the up line were affected for sometimes, but Railway cleared it after rerailing the affected wagon, he added.
Engine from Kendrapara Road reached at the site at 1 pm and engaged to pull the rear portion. “Line was cleared at 1.50 pm and track was declared fit to resume train services at 1.55 pm,” ECoR sources said.
Three passenger trains were stopped at different places after the derailment. These were Howrah - Puri Dhauli Express, New Delhi - Puri Nandankanan Express and Howrah - Secunderabad Falaknuma Express.
