FIR over baby swap claims

FIR over baby swap claims
NEW DELHI: Safdarjung Hospital has decided to file an FIR against a person for falsely claiming that his wife delivered a baby boy but hospital staff exchanged it with a girl.
The couple, Bhupinder and Soniya, refused to accept the baby and left it in the hospital nursery itself until the DNA reports came in.
“The DNA reports have confirmed that the woman delivered a girl only. Now, we want the police to act against this couple for maligning the image of the hospital and making false claims,” Dr A K Rai, medical superintendent of Safdarjung hospital, told TOI.
Bhupender is a resident of Deoli village in south Delhi.
His wife, Soniya, delivered a baby girl on June 1 around 12.55 pm, officials said.
“She and her husband refused to accept the baby girl till the receipt of DNA report on June 20. Thus, they neglected their child and put extra burden on hospital services for keeping their child in the nursery,” the hospital has complained to the police.
A copy of the complaint, which is with TOI, states that the couple and four to five of their relatives disrupted the functioning of the entire labour room by shouting, making unnecessary arguments, abusing and using filthy language with doctors and other hospital staff.
