NEW DELHI: The Delhi University teachers voted Rajib Ray as their new DU Teachers' Association (DUTA) president on Thursday . This is the fourth consecutive victory for the left-backed Democratic Teachers' Front (DTF).
Ray defeated right-wing National Democratic Teachers' Front's candidate Virender S Negi. Ray , a teacher of Kirori Mal College, has been elected for a term of two years with 2,636 votes, while Negi got 2,375 votes.

“Teachers in their own way stated that they are against the policy onslaught of the Union government as they have transcended political affiliation to vote for DTF,“ Ray said.
This win was significant for DTF after its defeat in the executive and academic council polls earlier this year. DUTA election witnessed a high turnout with 7,386 votes polled against total 9,682 voters.
“DTF has won at a time when the Centre has chosen to unleash the worst possible set of policy changes based on a blueprint prepared by the NITI Aayog,“ added Ray .
