GANGTOK: Five persons were today killed as landslides casued due to incessant rains occurred in different parts of Sikkim.
Early this morning, at around 2 AM, a landslide took place at Upper Gurpisey. One house at Upper Ghurpisay collapsed in the natural calamity. Three persons were buried and later their bodies were taken out by the rescue team.
The deceased have been identified as Nikhil Rai (11), Nikita Rai (15) and Passangkit Bhutia (21).
Two injured have been admitted to Namchi hospital.

The second incident took place at around 3 AM at Upper Bokrong ward, Kateng Namphok Gpu where a house collapsed killing a woman and her daughter.

The deceased have been identified as Manju and her daughter Angel.
All roads in the area have been closed.
A Disaster Control Room has been set up and Police Station Namchi will undersee all kinds of rescue and search operation.
