Woman chases chain snatcher

KANPUR: A woman passenger travelling in Manikpur-Jhansi passenger train fought a criminal who had snatched her gold chain near Digwahi railway station in Banda and managed to catch him.The incident took place on Saturday, the woman identified as Lakshmi, a native of Akauna village in Hamirpur was on her way to Banda from Attara. The woman had boarded the Manikpur-Jhansi passenger train from Atarra railway station for Banda.From there, she was to board a connecting train for Hamirpur. She was wearing a gold chain and standing close to the entrance of the train, when a youth travelling in the same coach snatched her chain and tried to flee by jumping off the moving train near Digwahi railway station.
The woman too jumped off the train and started running along the track and managed to chase him and pinned the snatcher on the ground, a GRP official said. Her co-passengers caught the youth and handed him over to police.
