LUCKNOW: Lucknow University teachers boycotted classes on Teachers' Day to demand implementation of 7th pay commission recommendations. Supporting the nationwide teachers' pro test against the delay in salary revision, Lucknow University teachers protested outside the administrative block on the campus for more than three hours.
Teachers from all 42 departments of LU joined the protest.
“The 7th pay commission has been implemented, but still our salaries have not been revised,“ said general secretary of Lucknow University Teachers' Association Durgesh Srivastava.
Students who came for classes were left disappointed. “We had no prior information that classes will remain suspended,“ said Anvita Dubey, a student.
The teaching staff also boycotted Teachers' Day celebration. “We had made arrangements to celebrate this special day with our professors, but we were left disappointed,“ said Achintya Verma, a student.
