Oil companies donate Rs 15 crore in Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Relief Fund

A delegation of central government’s oil companies on Tuesday called on Bihar CM Nitish Kumar at his residence at 1, Anney Marg here and handed over a cheque of Rs 15 crore for the CM Relief Fund.

PATNA: A delegation of central government’s oil companies on Tuesday called on Bihar CM Nitish Kumar at his residence at 1, Anney Marg here and handed over a cheque of Rs 15 crore for the CM Relief Fund.
The amount of Rs 15 crore was given on the behalf of oil companies namely ONGC, IOCL, BPCL, HPCL, GAIL, OIL and NRL. The delegation comprises IOCL chairman Sanjiv Singh, GAIL’s chief general manager Pawan Sharma and IOCL, Barauni unit’s executive director V K Shukla.

State’s building construction minister Maheshwar Hazari also submitted a cheque of Rs 1.5 lakh to Nitish Kumar for the CM relief fund. Besides Hazari, the ruling JD(U) MLC Ghulam Rasool Baliyavi and former MLA Ashok Kumar alias Munna Ji submitted cheque of Rs 1.01 lakh and Rs 51,000 respectively for the CM relief fund.
Bihar’s Disaster management department (DMD) said altogether 187 blocks and 2371 panchayats in 19 districts are still affected forcing 11,583 people to remain in 34 relief camps at different locations.
The toll in the devastation has went up to 514. A DMD official said a total of 1,20,659 beneficiaries received flood assistance of Rs 6000 in their bank accounts through RTGS from the Bihar government to purchase necessary utensils.
Earlier on August 30, film actor Aamir Khan had donated Rs 25 lakh to the CM relief fund for expediting relief operation among the flood affected families in Bihar.
