The state cabinet on Tuesday sanctioned a proposal to hand over 656 acres land on the fringes of Ranchi to the urban development ministry to commence work on Ranchi smart city projects.

RANCHI: The state cabinet on Tuesday sanctioned a proposal to hand over 656 acres land on the fringes of Ranchi to the urban development ministry to commence work on Ranchi smart city projects. The land, located in Dhurwa area, was handed over to state government recently by the Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) recently.
The ownership transfer comes little over a week before the scheduled inauguration of the smart city project on September 9 by vice-president M Venkaiah Naidu.
The Union cabinet also sanctioned Rs 721.93 crore to the HEC as a revival package for the latter.
The cabinet also approved Rs 64 crore for the school education & literacy department's proposal to roll out Gyanodaya Yojana.
Secretary of the cabinet coordination and vigilance department, S K G Rahate said the project was in line with Niti Aayog's recent project to improve teaching standards in government schools. Under the project, teachers of 41,000 government schools will be imparted special training while a project management unit will be constituted to monitor the training.
