Six members of an NRI family were on Sunday booked for allegedly harassing a woman for dowry, the police has said. Manbir Kaur complained to police that her husband Harsimran Singh and five of her in-laws have been harassing her for dowry after she got married in 2008.

PHAGWARA (Punjab): Six members of an NRI family were on Sunday booked for allegedly harassing a woman for dowry, the police has said.
Manbir Kaur complained to police that her husband Harsimran Singh and five of her in-laws have been harassing her for dowry after she got married in 2008.
The accused are settled in Brisbane, Australia and hail from Guru Nanak Nagar area in the district, they said.

Kaur alleged that after the wedding, her family had given dowry and also paid Rs 10 lakh as the price of her in-laws' tickets to Australia, police said.
After three months of her marriage, Kaur also left for the country where she was repeatedly troubled by the accused who demanded more money as dowry.
Police said the accused have been booked under relevant sections of the anti-dowry Act and for criminal breach of trust.
