A Providence man told NBC 10 News he found his missing dog listed for sale online.

Tony Osorio said he let his dogs outside in his Blackstone Street unfenced yard on Feb. 5.

It didn’t take long before his 10-year-old Yorke, Bella, and his 6-year-old Maltese, Princess, were gone.

“When we came back to look for them, they were gone. And I started looking for them everywhere,” Osorio said.

At a loss, he said he began looking for his dogs online, scrolling through several online marketplaces. Sure enough, he found his Yorke listed for sale on the website, www.OfferUp.com, for $500.

“They posted that she was a year old and she's 10,” Osorio said.

With the help of Providence Detective Steve Sullivan, Osorio was reunited with Bella on Wednesday.

“I am very grateful to them. They did an excellent job. They executed it quickly. I believe if they didn't do their job, I probably wouldn't have gotten her back,” Osorio said.

Police said the woman who had the dog told them her daughter gave it to her as a gift and bought the dog from someone on the street.

As for his missing Maltese, Osorio helped find her but didn't want to elaborate. He said you can't put a put a dollar amount on his dogs.

“You couldn't give me money for her or her,” Osorio said.

Police are still investigating and haven’t been made any arrests. Osorio said he doesn't think jail time would help the thief.

“I think someone like that needs to go to an animal shelter for community service, if you ask me, and work with animals,” Osorio said.

More than anything, he said he’s grateful to have his dogs back, unharmed.
