The holiday spirit was abundant in Providence Saturday as 20 children were paired up with 20 police officers to go on a shopping spree.
The event marked the 6th year for "Shop with a Cop" in Providence, which took place at the Old Navy Providence Place Mall store.
This year, Jaeyda and Jeneyda, who are 11-year-old twin sisters, participated in the program for the first time and not only did they enjoy it, but they also felt inspired.
"It's really fun, I really like it," said Jaeyda.
"Maybe when I grow up I want to be a cop,” said Jeneyda
While they were accompanied by Sergeant Chris Currier, he did admit that he let the girls handle more of the fashion choice part.
"It’s really fun I like it. It's been really enjoyable I enjoy meeting them and their mom and we had a great morning,” said Sgt. Currier.
Detective Anthony Roberson runs the Shop with a Cop program.
"In this case, it was Cafe Nuovo and the Meeting Street Cafe, and I got gift cards from them, which I raffled off," said Det. Roberson.
Each of the 20 children were then given $100 to spend at the store.
