BENZIE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- The annual Fourth of July Celebration in Frankfort is the latest northern Michigan summer event to be cancelled due to concerns of COVID-19.
The annual celebration is a series of events that the Frankfort City Council said launches the community’s summer season while attracting customers for local businesses.
The decision to cancel was made Tuesday, May 18, and it wasn’t an easy one to make, according to the city council.
“There is too much uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic to consciously move forward with this event," the city council stated in a press release.
