BRISTOL, Va. — Two people were arrested Thursday afternoon after leaving four dogs in a hot car in downtown Bristol, Virginia, according to police.
Authorities told News 5 at the scene across the street from the courthouse that a K9 officer took the dogs to his cruiser to cool them down and get them water. Officials say the dogs are being taken to the animal shelter.
Police have arrested 29-year-old Carolyne Amanda Hartley and 29-year-old James Brian Hughes of Abingdon and charged them with four counts of cruelty to animals.
