Virginia is changing the way it assigns coronavirus cases to cities and counties.
Over the weekend, the Commonwealth assigned more than 37,000 tests without location data to a county or city.
Because the people tested did not list a ZIP code, those tests were previously only included in the statewide count. Now, Virginia is using the ZIP code where the test was given or where the test was processed in cases where the patient's home ZIP code is unknown.
None of the 37,000 tests were in our region.
