United Airlines kicks off their direct flight to Newark, New Jersey today from the Pensacola International Airport.

Channel 3’s Laura Hussey spent some time on the set of Good Morning America (GMA) chatting with the anchors and crew.

Just like 3 In The Morning, GMA is a well-oiled machine. Everyone knows their part and brings their A-game every day. Michael Strahan is one of the newest members to the team.

“I wake up every morning and I'm like I cannot believe this is what I get a chance to do.that I'm sitting at the desk with George and Robin, I'm like OK that's Robin Roberts, that's George Stephanopoulos. Oh my goodness, what am I doing here?? So, every morning is like a pinch myself morning” Strahan said.

Ginger Zee, the Meteorologist on GMA, is as always is amazing! She has a deep passion for weather and has a message for folks in the Panhandle that went through Hurricane Michael.

“I try my best to post as much as I can, I haven't forgotten, I will never forget, and I hope that the rest of the nation... and that is kind of my job, is to keep letting them know, so keep telling me the stories” she stressed.

And, George Stephanopoulos is intelligent and understated as you’d expect.

Laura and George talked about surviving the slings and arrows of the social media world.

“I don't look at it. Never do. I mean I' do stuff for the show, but its just a rule I have. If I make a mistake or somebody doesn't like something I did, I'm sure I'll hear if I need to hear it, but I'm not gonna go looking for it.”

When it comes to Robin Roberts, she is a Mississippi Gulf Coast native, and she knows WEAR-TV very well. She loves what she does and between her one-liner jokes she takes time to meet the people that are there to watch them work.

“I want people to know in their hometowns like that, that we're thinking of you, and we want people to know that we feel that connection. When I go home, and when I travel people don't really say ABC. Like if I'm in Pensacola, they're gonna say you're on Channel 3 you know it’s that local connection...and that's what people feel, and that's what I feel as well”.

Don’t forget! You can head to New York yourself starting today on a direct flight. United Airlines goes right into Newark.
