If you need housing advice, the Eviction Prevention Project of the Georgia Legal Services Program will be in Albany Saturday.

When it comes to evictions and repairs, experts say help from legal authority is often necessary.

This weekend, the housing clinic will help answer questions about anything from evictions to housing discrimination.

The Eviction Prevention Project is hosting the clinic Saturday from 11 until 3 p.m. at the Albany Civic Center.

Lawyers will be available to answer questions on rental housing matters, ranging from repairs, to evictions, to housing deposits.

Information will also be available on a new law that goes into effect July 1st.

Georgia House Bill 346 protects tenants from retaliatory acts by their landlords when they request repairs.

Georgia Legal Services Staff Attorney Lonna J.C. Taylor says all services are free to low income Georgians and senior citizens.

Taylor is encouraging anyone with housing issues to come out this weekend, and adds it's all about providing tenants with the justice they deserve.

"The housing issue in the state of Georgia and all through the United States is very serious, especially when it comes to evictions. People are usually only one or two paychecks from being homeless, so we try to assist anybody, especially low income, rural Georgians," said Taylor.

Tenants who are facing housing discrimination can file a claim with the Department of Urban Housing Development at 202-708-1112.
