Maine schools encouraged to continue distance learning for rest of school year

AUGUSTA (WGME) -- Governor Janet Mills and the Department of Education are recommending schools continue distance learning for the rest of the school year.

The recommendation notes as well that the SAT's will not be required for third year high school students.

Instead, the DOE is working to design a new way to measure school and student success.

The DOE also adds that the SAT will not be required for admission at any Maine college or university.

Several Maine colleges are switching from a letter grade scale to a pass or fail grading scale.

K-12 schools in Maine have the option to switch to this scale for the remainder of the year as well.
