PORTLAND (WGME) -- A Maine mother said she has found a treasured keepsake that contains her son's ashes.

Pattie Gallant said she found the lost necklace with a dragonfly pendant that contains her son's ashes and a charm embossed with her son Evan's fingerprint and his initials on Wednesday.

"Prayers have been answered. It was in a sweater that I haven't worn since well before losing it and also in a drawer I hadn't opened for months except to shake everything out after losing my necklace. I emptied every drawer and closet and shook the contents. [Wednesday] I wore this particular sweater and while talking to one of his best friends, rested my hands in the pockets and felt something deep in the corner," Pattie said.

Pattie's son, Evan, died when he was 21 from cancer.

The necklace went missing last month.

"I lost my son two and a half years ago to cancer. Evan was 21. A year after he passed his dad and stepmom gave me a dragonfly pendant with some of his ashes inside. And I wore it daily. And recently, two months ago, my dad passed away and he had been wearing a fingerprint--my son's fingerprint--around his neck that I had given him when he was diagnosed with cancer. And when he passed I took that from him and put it on chain with the dragonfly," Pattie told CBS 13 in December.
