JACKMAN (WGME) -- A Jackman man won $529 from the Maine Better Transportation Association Tuesday, for identifying the "Worst Road in Maine."

William Jarvis submitted a stretch of Route 201 from the town of Moose River to the Quebec border.

The $529 grand prize represents the amount that researchers estimate every Maine resident pays in extra maintenance and repairs due to bad roads.

Three runners-up were awarded $176.

  • Craig Bartlett of Sanford submitted Route 202 west of Sanford.
  • Matt Beil of Limestone submitted Presque Isle Street/Route 1A in Fort Fairfield.
  • Caitlyn Roy of East Machias submitted Route 1 in Washington County from Chase Mills Road near Gardner Lake.
