WESTBROOK (WGME) -- The Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland says some of the animals seized from a home in Solon will soon be up for adoption.

The shelter says they currently have 55 dogs and one cat in their care. The animals range in age from newborn to senior.

More than 100 animals were seized from a Solon property last month after Maine Animal Welfare authorities determined the animals needed urgent care.

The shelter says the animals’ medical needs are substantial.

“We have one in need of a $1,200 orthopedic surgery, and one with a heart condition. We have had two dogs give birth to large litters, one via an emergency C-section just last night. Many arrived with urgent medical and surgical needs; conjunctivitis, intestinal viruses, dental extractions, and anemia as well as serious grooming needs. Each animal will also be spayed/neutered and receive standard vaccinations and treatments,” the shelter said.

The shelter says the cost of care for the animals is extensive and their asking for donations so they can continue to provide the highest level of veterinary care and support the animals deserve.

If you are interested in adopting a Solon dog, the shelter anticipates the availability of some of the animals to begin this week.

Please check their website of adoptable dogs at arlgp.org/dogs to stay updated on their availability.
