Snow is on the way for Thursday afternoon and night.

Many areas will start as rain but as the storm intensifies colder air will bring a changeover to more snow.

The best chance for significant snow accumulations will be in northern Maine and the mountains. Central Maine will need to be monitored for some heavy snowfall as well.

Winds are expected to gust 35 to 45 MPH Thursday evening into Friday.

Strongest winds will likely be in the mid-coast and Downeast.

The combination of a strengthening storm in the Gulf of Maine and astronomical high tides will likely lead to more coastal flooding issues in Maine. The concerning tides are Thursday at 12:51 p.m. and Friday at 1:08 a.m.

Friday will showcase some improvement, but the forecast is far from perfect.

A few rain and snow showers are expected. In addition, we're watching the high tides.

The weekend is looking better with brighter skies and slightly milder temps.

Another rain storm is possible Monday.
