BOWDOIN (WGME) – The Maine Warden Service says a warden and his K-9 found a missing 78-year-old man with dementia in Bowdoin Tuesday night.

Wardens say James Conway went missing from his home on the West Road in Bowdoin on Tuesday around 2 p.m. after he went to retrieve something and never returned

Conway’s wife called 911 at around 6 p.m., and the Maine Warden Service, along with several other agencies, responded.

A warden and his K-9 named Ruby found Conway’s track. He was found around 7:45 p.m. near the woods about 300 yards from his home and unable to get up.

Conway was unresponsive and very hypothermic, according to wardens.

Emergency medical personnel treated Conway at the scene and then he was taken to the hospital for observation.
