Bangor, Maine -- Maeve Carroll's jumper as time expired completed an eight point comeback, lifting the Black Bears to a 61-60 victory over visiting Green Bay on Friday evening at the Cross Insurance Center.

Dor Saar netted a career-high 30 points, knocking down eight triples, while finishing 9-of-14 overall from the field. Anne Simon turned in a career-best 17 points with six rebounds while Carroll finished the night with five points and seven boards.

Trailing by eight with 1:59 remaining, the Black Bears closed the game on an 11-2 run to complete the comeback. Saar began the run with four-straight free throws, the second two coming after Maine was able to force a turnover. Another turnover, this one coming on a steal from Saar, led to a trey by Fogarty, bringing Maine within one. Simon gathered a defensive rebound before drawing a foul with 11-seconds left. Simon hit both free throws to put Maine up by one. Working out of a timeout, Green Bay's Frankie Wurtz drew a foul underneath the hoop. Wurtz would convert both free throws to regain a one point advantage for the Phoenix. Saar raced the ball up court before finding Simon on the left wing. Simon quickly sent a pass down low to Carroll who knocked down a 12-foot jumper shot as the clock hit zero, completing Maine's thrilling come from behind victory.

The Black Bears, who went 8-of-8 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter, finished the game 18-of-41 from the floor, 10-of-22 from 3-point range, and 15-of-23 from the charity stripe. Maine controlled the rebounding action by a 33-30 margin.

Maine got off to a hot start from the field after going 7-for-12 from the floor in the first quarter, led by Saar's 12 first quarter points on 4-for-5 shooting from beyond the arc in the first period. The Black Bears used a 14-4 run to close out the period as Saar's fourth triple of the quarter put Maine on top, 21-10, after one.

Maine's offense went cold in the second as it was able to muster just one field goal through the 10-minute span. The Phoenix outscored Maine 18-3 in the second to take a 28-24 lead into the break. The Black Bears were 0-for-6 this season when trailing at the half entering Friday evening.

The Black Bears found themselves trailing by eight early in the second when Saar's back-to-back three point field goals trimmed the deficit to a pair. Maine was able to tie the score on Saar's third triple of the third quarter. However, the Black Bears were unable to regain the lead and, after Saar's buzzer-beating layup, would trail, 44-42 entering the final quarter.

Green Bay maintained its advantage throughout the early stages of the fourth, building its lead to six before a bucket with 3:18 remaining extended the Phoenix lead to eight. Two Simon free throws were answered by a jumper in the paint by Wurtz as Maine found itself down eight with 2:16 to play. The comeback was on as Maine outscored Green Bay 11-2 down the stretch, forcing two key turnovers over the frame before Carroll's jumper sealed the victory.

Maine returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 21 when it hosts Northeastern at the Cross Insurance Center at 1 p.m. For tickets, visit TicketMaster.com or purchase in-person at the Cross Insurance Center box office.
