JONESBORO, Ga. (AP) — Authorities in Georgia say a missing mother has been identified as one of two bodies found in the woods.

News outlets report that DNA test results were announced Friday. They showed that the remains belonged to Beatriz Espinoza-Fuentes. She was 25 when she went missing March 25, 2017.

Loved ones say she didn't pick up her 3-year-old son that day. He was later found wandering around a shopping center, and a family friend told police that drugs were in the boy's backpack.

The family friend told WSB-TV that a man from Mexico called and said Espinoza-Fuentes lost $30,000 and he wanted the money back.

A man walking his dog on a dirt trail found the bodies in April 2017 in Clayton County.

The other body has not been identified.
