The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has confirmed that Georgia's state parks will be open to anyone who is evacuating from Hurricane Dorian.

Although most of the parks are already full of campers for the holiday, DNR officials say anyone with camping equipment can stay in the parking overflow areas.

To find parks with the most availability, visit the GDNR website here and to click on each location for the best place to go.

"We understand that it's a very trying time for people," says Katherine Darsey, a park manager at Indian Springs State Park in Butts County. "They are scared and leaving their homes and we try to offer a friendly face and a safe place to be while they are riding out the storm."

Darsey says they are now offering dry camping for free and waiving all daily park pass fees.

"Dry camping is basically where you have a safe place," she said. "You have no amenities like a normal campsite would have. Typically, you would have electricity and water hookups for a camper/tent."

For those who want the comfort of the cottages, Darsey says they will also be available for their normal rate. And you can bring pets.

"We are also waiving pet fees for all evacuees," Darsey said. "They can bring their dogs in any of our cottages listed as pet friendly or not."
