After political pushback led to the collapse of Amazon's deal with New York to establish an HQ2 in Queens, the state of Maryland is looking to capitalize on the opportunity.

"I felt badly for New York and then I thought, well, the game's not over, there's still opportunity," said Gigi Godwin, president and CEO of the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce.

Although Amazon has said they won't be re-opening their search for a second HQ2 location, officials are still hopeful there is an option that can benefit the state.

"Even if it's not HQ2, Amazon is investing 5,000 jobs in Nashville in an operationos center. Investment like that would fit perfectly with the vision that we're trying to build in Prince George's County," said Mel Franklin, a Prince George's councilmember.
