STAFFORD, Va. (ABC7) - A Stafford woman who was told that she only had a few months left to live, is hoping you can help her celebrate the holiday season.

She’s hoping to make the most of her time by living vicariously through others as she battles terminal cancer.

"Life has been a roller coaster," said Jean Lee. "The journey started in 2003. I have been diagnosed with cancer six times, it's a sarcoma."

Currently they call hers an Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma which translates into they can’t identify which one it is.

It’s so rare, doctors said she wouldn’t survive longer than 18 months. Now, the cancer has spread to her heart which is inoperable.

“I still think I will die. I could die tomorrow. They really don’t know what’s going on with me or how it will get me" explained Lee.

One year after the 18 months passed, she’s still fighting.

“This is technically my first Christmas since my expiration date" laughed Lee.

Lee calls it her expiration date.

Jean put out a plea on Facebook – asking for cards from around the world of any kind.

“It helps with the depression. Sometimes it’s a bright spot in a gloomy day.”

Those gloomy days include waking up and taking 800 mg of a chemotherapy drug. "It's poisoning my body."

Inside the cards, she wants people to write a unique thing about the place where the card came from.

“I can’t do everything on my bucket list so I would live through them. I would get the experience through somebody else.”

So far jean has only a few cards. Jean says it gives her something to look forward to.

If you’d like to help – her address is 431 Oakridge Drive, Stafford, Va 22556.
