VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WSET) -- An owner and 20 cats were rescued after being found in a storage unit.

According to the Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center, 20 cats were brought into the shelter after the cats and their owner lost their home.

The cats and the owner were found living in a storage unit.

The Associated Press reports that the animal shelter said the cats are in good health and didn't show signs of neglect.

There is no word on how long the cats and the owner lived in the storage unit.

The shelter said all of the cats except one of them are housed in the colony cages in the adoption area and they would like to have the cats adopted sooner rather than later.

They said the owner was "doing the best they could."

According to the shelter, the cats are a little scared but they are very sweet.

If you are interested in adopting the cats, contact the Virginia Beach Animal Care and Adoption Center.
