Bridgeport remains in search of a place to build a high school football field.

Officials are eyeing a property next door to the school, which has created its share of controversy.

Now, the school is asking the community to fill out an online survey to gather input.

Bridgeport Schools are interested in purchasing a portion of Chapter Square by using eminent domain, however Callarik is refusing to sell as he's spent his life building up the property.

"I'll never give up, they are not getting me off of this place, and that's the way I feel about it," Callarik said.

Superintendent Brent Ripley says Chapter Square isn't the only option.

“We are still looking for property. Eminent domain is the last resort, always,” Ripley said. “So, we are still looking at property, I do want to say that. No families will be impacted if we were to take any property eminent domain."

The school needs of a new location for its football field out of a flood plain.

Before deciding where it will go, the school board wants the community to get involved.

"The board of education has had some questions asked, and I've had some questions asked, so we wanted to send out a survey so that everybody can have a voice," Ripley said.

The Stadium Input Community Survey is on the Bridgeport Schools website, and since it was uploaded over the weekend, more than 400 people have completed it, even non-Bridgeport residents.

Ripley plans to read each response and create a fact sheet of commonly asked questions.

"We're really trying to do what's best for students,” he said. “Not just now, but for the next 100 years."

Ripley says the survey will be online for another week.
