The rainy weather continues to punish township, county and state roads all over the Ohio Valley.

On Thursday, Jefferson County Engineer Jim Branagan presented a list of roads that have suffered slips some have, with some having more than one.

Deciding which roads to fix and how they will fix them within the county budget is difficult endeavor.

"You take them one at a time, and you really don't really have any long-range planning with this, you just got to take it as you get it," Branagan said.

"A lot of these townships don't have the money to fix their roads. So, some townships throughout the state they'll pass township levies, but they're hard to get passed. So, we need to work at the state level to get extra funding for a lot of these townships and counties that don't have the money to fix these roads,” Commissioner Thomas Gram said.

With the cost of road repairs, the commissioners have discussed contacting Congressman Bill Johnson about the possibility of more federal funding.
