Residents of Kennon Street in Bridgeport are fed up with the damage the water is doing to their neighborhood.

One family who lives on the street said water from the hillside is washing away their foundation.

They are afraid they are going to lose their home, so ODNR was contacted, and is now investigating.

"There's a hole. It's coming out of one part of my wall. It looks like a waterfall,” said concerned homeowner Marlene Wilson.

This water continuously flows into Wilson's basement and garage. The floors are stained orange.

"From the back of my steps and now my wall, it goes into my basement, and when it first started it was rust water that was coming out,” Wilson said.

Wilson has been dealing with this problem since the summer, but it's getting worse.

More leaks keep showing up, and the water runs onto her sidewalk and into Kennon Street.

Neighbor Jessica Nolan says the street is full of potholes and during the last winter storm, it was a sheet of ice.

"Coming out of my neighbor's driveway, it literally looked like a glacier,” she said.

"You couldn't walk down the hill, you couldn't even drive up the hill. I got my car stuck in between the boulder and another car, and I couldn’t get a tow truck to come and get me,” Wilson said.

Wilson reached out to the Village of Bridgeport last year to get help.

"An environmentalist came out and found out that there used to be a mine somewhere above my property, not sure where, it could be past my property or on my property, I have no idea,” she said.

She was told a drainage system would be installed, but that never happened.

I reached out to ODNR Division of Mineral Resources. It sent an inspector to the property Wednesday afternoon to see if the flooding is mine related.

ODNR said the source of the water is undetermined at this time, but the investigation will continue.
