BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 7-year-old boy died in a house fire Sunday morning, according to Michigan State Police.
Michigan State Police Troopers responded to a fire on South Marshall Street in Burlington Township around 1:30 a.m. Sun, Oct. 13, 2019.
State police said there were four people in the home when the fire broke out in the main living room or kitchen area.
The parents and a child escaped the fire, but the parents were taken to the hospital for burns. Firefighters found the 7-year-old child dead inside the manufactured home.
Burlington firefighters were assisted by the Tekonsha Fire Department and Union City Fire Department.
Authorities said a Michigan State Police Fire Investigator was called to the scene for further investigation.
Michigan State Police said a space heater is a possible cause and the cause appears to be accidental.
Burlington is located about 20 miles southeast of Battle Creek.
