2nd woman dies following 2017 Birmingham house fire

A second woman has died following a November 2017 fire that also claimed the life her daughter.

Geraldine Bolling, also known as Geraldine Rudolph, died Wednesday night, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office. She was 77.

Her daughter, 61-year-old Pamela Thomas died two weeks after the blaze.

The fire happened shortly after 2:37 p.m. on Nov. 11. Birmingham Fire and Rescue responded to the family's house in the 3400 block of 31st Street North.

Once on the scene, they found Thomas and Rudolph trapped in the house. Both were rescued and taken to UAB Hospital with life-threatening burns.

In an unrelated incident, Thomas' son, 41-year-old Perry Rudolph, was hurt in a hit-and-run crash the night before the fire when he rode his bicycle to the store to get some snacks for his 4-year-old granddaughter. While he was hospitalized - with nobody knowing where he was because he wasn't carrying identification - his mother and grandmother were critically injured in the Saturday afternoon house fire.

Ruldoph at some point was transferred from UAB Hospital to Brookwood Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 6:04 p.m. Wednesday.
